Its own ping watchdog
Runs standalone with no firewall involved. It pings the local gateway and the WAN IP, then decides which relay to fire.
HHC-NET2D · standalone relay
The NET2D is a 2-channel Ethernet relay board running its own firmware. It watches the uplink with a ping watchdog, rolls back to a known-good firmware on its own, and can power-cycle hardware a USB relay plugged into that same hardware never could.
Where it sits
The board pings the local gateway and the WAN IP. Gateway up but WAN down means a modem fault, so it cycles the modem. Gateway down means the router itself is unreachable, so it cycles both.
What makes it different
Runs standalone with no firewall involved. It pings the local gateway and the WAN IP, then decides which relay to fire.
Two firmware slots. A bad update falls back to the last known-good build automatically.
Cycle the router and the modem — something a USB relay plugged into that router cannot do.
A hardware sale, not a subscription. It does not check in and stays out of the Vigil licensing system — but continued support and firmware updates are a yearly purchase.
Support & firmware
There is no licence and no check-in — but firmware updates and ongoing support are not free. A yearly support & firmware renewal covers both: files you download and apply manually with the vendor tool, never pushed from the Vigil repository.
The renewal stays out of the licensing database — there is nothing to track there.
Configuration
Configure it over the network from a shell. No agent to install, no cloud account, no vendor software on Windows — point a small helper script at the board’s address and it answers.
